Join The Fight, a 501c3 nonprofit that hosts Custer's Last Stand, Fast Fitty Gravel Road Race, and the Michigan Off-Road Championship is proud to bring you, Shelden's BIG Bang. Yes, while spelled differently than the TV character, the Shelden trail name certainly played its part when the race name popped into co-founder, Dale Lundberg's head.

In the early 2000s, Stony Creek played host to multiple races, with multiple formats. The trail system is large enough to offer 10+ mile loops, but is a multi-segment trail system that allows for shorter laps too. For reasons unknown, by 2020-ish, there were 0 races at Stony Creek. As word started spreading of a race returning, excitement grew and Join The Fight’s decision to bring this race to public was solidified.

Mountain Biking in Michigan is making a comeback, especially with the new M.O.R.C race series, for which Shelden's BIG Bang has joined. This race is a traditional, multi-lap, cross country (XC) race. Bringing back a MTB race to a trail system which once hosted multiple races, along with a mid-July annual race date, was just a matter of time!
Mashing up exciting machine built single track, an old school climb trail, and classic two track, an 8.5-mile lap is on tap for racers at Shelden's Big Bang! Push hard and try to get that top step, beat your friends, or push yourself in your first mountain bike race on some of Southeast Michigan's favorite trails.

After the half-mile hole shot and prelude from the start line, the remaining 8 miles (split 60/40 between single and two track) features 6 unique single and two track sections per lap, perfect for testing your handling and having fun while offering wide-open, fast, safe areas to pass. Steady climbs, flowing descents, and lots of fun and excitement await!

Shelden's BIG Bang is a Wave Start race format. Your assigned wave will have its own start time within the main hour (i.e. 10:00 AM) start time. You will ONLY start with those who are in your race class. You'll know your competition from the word GO!
